Weekly Recap!

Last Monday after the car fiasco happened, I didn't have time to go run before Paul needed to leave for work. I said I was going to run after he got home, but when he got home, I ate dinner and had pretty much given up on running for the day. During dinner, Kim texted me about something at work and I randomly asked her if she had 3 miles to do today, and if she had done them yet. She said that she did have 3 mile and that she had not run them yet. So we decided to meet up at SCP at 730p to run together. We hadn't run together since we'd "broken up"! It was a great run! We chatted and it was really nice outside (for summer)! That day, I really felt like just giving up! But after the run and talk therapy session with Kim, it was better. I felt good and didn't want to give up anymore! There is nothing better than a good run with a great friend! It makes everything right in the world!

I was supposed to run on Tuesday, but I did not. I went to Hip Hop Hustle Tuesday night and there were lots of new people! I was one  of the ones who actually, kind of knew what they were doing and that make me feel good!

Wednesday I almost didn't run, but did at around 8pm. I went to a new park. Linwood Park. It has a 4.9 mile path next to the canal route. I did 2.5 miles and it was hard! I rested on Thursday and did my 2 miles from Tuesday on Friday and they were hard too!

S2F Group source
Saturday morning was the S2F group run. I had 4 miles. When we were breaking off into groups (5k, marathon, and half marathon), Randy, one of the coaches from last session, came up to me and said "I'm glad to see that you are doing the Half! That's awesome!" It made me feel really good! I had a great 4 miles! I was above my target pace of 13:30 min/mile the whole run! I had an average of 12:41 min/mile pace! They took a group photo that I missed because I was running a smidgen late! But it was a cool photo! So many people out to run together on a Saturday at 630am!

Kim Finishing! Source
Saturday, Kim was running the Titan 10k and it had started at 7am. I got done at about 745am, so after the run, I drove over to where they were having the race and started walking the course backwards to find her. I got there at about 8am, and I didn't think she would've finished yet. I was wondering what she was wearing, if she was wearing the race shirt or something else and wondered if I'd be able to spot her. I was at about 5.5ish miles when I saw her round the corner and spotted her right away! I asked how she was doing and she said she was dying! I ran along side her on the sidewalk (I didn't want to be a bandit!) for a while, then headed over to see her cross the finish line. It ended on the high school track and the announcer announced your name as you crossed the finish line, which I thought was pretty cool!

After that I had to go to work. I don't really mind working on Saturday, because it is only for 3 hours. And then at 330pm we went to the wedding of my hairstylist! She is also a friend! She has done my hair for about 6 years! She did my hair for my wedding, for my friend Lindsay's wedding, for Stephanie's wedding... She sang at my wedding and helped decorate! It was awesome to see her on her big day! She looked beautiful!

If you didn't see, I'm hosting a Bondi Band Armband Giveaway right now! Go enter!

Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Busy Busy Bee

I meant to blog last Saturday, but I've been pretty busy....

Last Saturday was the RiverRun 10k! Our big goal race! I was sooo nervous! But happy that morning because the weather was great! It was in the 60s! Paul dropped me off downtown at about 630a and I met up with Kim right away! I had an idea that I wanted to write a message in tape on the back of my shirt for the race. Kim said she wanted to too, so we did this:

Kim's Shirt

My Shirt
I'm so glad that we did it! We got lots of compliments on our shirts! It's funny, because she always runs to the left of me, so we never had to worry about it being backwards!

S2F Group Photo
We got to where the GoRun tent was and took our group picture at 7am. After the group photo, we made our way toward the starting line. There were LOTS of people! The gun sounded and we walked to the finish line and started running once our chip started timing. I remember looking at my Garmin and it said 0.48 miles and I already wanted to stop and walk, but I promised myself that I was going to run this whole thing. At about a mile in, we somehow got next to this woman that was singing loudly and horribly and she was walking and somehow ahead of us!

Traditional Pre Race Photo!
We were near a lot of the people from our group. Most of them were running, then walking, then running, then walking. That gets kind of annoying when you keep passing and getting passed by the same people over and over again, but we just kept running. We brought our hand held water bottles, so we didn't even have to stop for the water stations.

I remember passing the 5k mark and being SO excited! And after the 5k mark, it seemed to get much easier! I was able to go faster with less effort and felt pretty good all around.

Stephanie with her sign!
Stephanie couldn't run it, but she said that she was going to come and cheer us on. Before the race, I was telling Kim that I wish we would've told her to meet us at mile 5, because that's when I felt like I would really need a cheerleader. Well, at mile 5, we didn't see Steph, but we saw the T1 and T2, the guys that help with our program. T1 saw us and pointed at us and gave us a thumbs up! It was really awesome! I felt like we did have someone at mile 5 cheering for us! Then we got to mile 6 and there was Stephanie with a sign! She yelled to us that we just had to cross the bridge and then we'd be finished. When we were on the bridge Kim said "Tell me when you're going to go!" and I said "I'm not going to! I can't!" Then we were almost there and I said "Okay, GO!" and we ran hard to the finish!

So happy!
I felt so freaking proud! We finished with a time of 1:25:52! I didn't really have a time goal, I just wanted to run the whole thing. The course was open for 90 minutes, so I was hoping to finish before the course closed and we did that!

Carrie and Kim Post Race Photo
I ran each mile for a different person.
I ran mile 1 for Elliott, because everything I do begins and ends with her.
I ran mile 2 for Paul, because he supports me in everything I do.
I ran mile 3 for Kim because it's always tough for her to get through from 2.5-3 miles, and because she is my biggest cheerleader!
I ran mile 4 for my dad, because this is a part of my life that he never got to see, and I know he would be really proud of me!
I ran mile 5 for my mom, because I know that she could do this too if she wanted to.
And I ran mile 6.2 for me, because I deserve this!

Sarah and Jennifer after the 2 mile
After the 10k, we found my sister-in-law, Jennifer and my niece, Sarah. They were watching Elliott for me and they were also running the 2 mile race! I liked watching the two mile race and Elliott got her picture in the paper watching it!

Elliott "Running Fast"
The Elliott ran the Tot Trot! At first she didn't want to have anything to do with it, but once she realized what was going on, she had a lot of fun! It was about 40 yards, but she thought it was cool!

Weigh In and Get Your Rear In Gear 5k Race Report

ONEderland!
Down 4.4lbs this week! Holy Moley! Finally! I made it to ONEderland! I didn't think this day would ever come! I guess working out 5 out of 7 days really paid off!

Stephanie and I went to the Y on Monday night to lift weights and we did some elliptical also. Tuesday night me and Steph did a Turbokick class at the Y. I ran walked 3 miles on Wednesday with Kim at group run. Thursday night Steph and I did Zumba. Last night Kim and I did a 5k. And then this morning I weighed less than 200lbs for the first time in 2 years!

Kim and I pre race

Our race last night sucked so bad. It was SO hot. When I had signed up I thought that since it was going to start at 730p that it would be cooler! Boy was I wrong. The race was in downtown Wichita and part of the race went on this stupid brick road that was so hard to run on! When we we coming off the first mile, we could see a further part of the course and we saw the race leaders and it was really cool! We had never ran a race and been able to see the leaders ahead before. Thomas (one of our...mentors, coaches...I don't know) was one of the leaders, which he always is. I knew that he was going to be overall winner as soon as I saw him before the race started. He always is! The course was 2 loops and when we were about 2.5 miles in, Thomas lapped us. He was going so fast and it all just seemed effortless for him. I hope to be there someday.

This is what my 100% looks like! Final Stretch
My brother and his girlfriend, Mary, came out to cheer us on with Paul and Elliott. When we looped back around and saw them, I wanted to stop so bad! It really was a tough race! We kept going. When we finally looped around to the final stretch, Kim sounded like she was having trouble breathing. She said that she was trying not to cry. See the race was for colon cancer and her grandpa has been in the hospital this past week and they found a tumor in his colon, so it meant so much more for her.

My finishing time was 43:06, so no PR. I didn't have a PR in mind, I just wanted to finish. I felt completely unprepared for the race! Kim did text me later and tell me that her mapmyrun showed a long course at 3.24 miles...
Me and Kim post race

After the race, Paul, Elliott, and I walked and had Gelato with my brother and Mary. I'd never had Gelato before. I first chose Blood Orange flavor, but decided on Mint. It was really good!

5 days until the 10k. I'm super nervous!

Stephanie at her bachlorette party

We played LIFE at the Bridal Shower
Today Paul , Elle, and I went to the zoo with my mother-in-law and niece and nephews. It was fun. We were there for about 5 hours! It has been a busy weekend! I had Stephanie's bacherloette party on Friday night, Elliott had pictures on Saturday morning, Sunday was Stephanies Bridal Shower which I had completely forgotten about, so I was super late, and today we went to the zoo. Next weekend is the RiverRun 10k on Saturday and Stepahnie's wedding on Sunday.
Elliott is normally TERRIFIED of these statues, but she has started to warm up to them!

Weigh In

A quick weigh in:

204.2lbs, which is down 1.4lbs! I wish I was losing faster, but I'll get there!

I ran 2.1 miles on the treadmill tonight at the Y with Stephanie. She is in PT and can't run right now, so she walked on the treadmill next to me while I ran. We talked about her upcoming wedding! She and her boyfriend are engaged, but didn't have a date set, then last week they set the date for June 3rd of this year! 6 weeks away! He is going to go into the army, and they wanted to get married before he joined. I went with her to try on dresses on Saturday and it was fun! She looked so beautiful!

I have a 5k with Paul on Wednesday! I'm excited! Then I hope I run 4 miles on Saturday!

4 Years

Today is Paul and I's 4th wedding anniversary. I'm almost back down to the weight I was when we got married. I was around 190 when we got married... I started at 210 and had a year to lose, but I didn't take it seriously and only lost 20lbs. We don't have any huge plans to celebrate... I made some baked tilapia for dinner and then he went to a meeting of a club he is in... For our 1st anniversary we went to a Bed & Breakfast. Our 2nd anniversary, we had a 12 day old baby, so we just had a casual dinner at Red Robin. Last year we got into a huge fight, so we didn't even really talk... I'm completely exhausted, so I don't feel like making a huge deal of in anyway. Elliott got out of bed and was crying last night, so Paul brought her into our bed. I never sleep very well if she sleeps with us. Which is weird, because she slept with us until she was about 18 months old.

Today was Monday Part 4! I'm usually off on Tuesdays, but this week and next I have to work because someone is on vacation. I'm so ready for a day off, but I'll love my paycheck!

I did really good counting my points again today! I was supposed to go to boot camp tonight, but I really did not feel like going.

Stephanie and I are going to go swimming tomorrow night at the Y.
